Tree Surgery - Common Terminology

Standards of work within the tree surgery industry are set out in a British Standard titled; BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations.  Common with other industries there is a certain amount of 'jargon' and terminology that can be a mystery to outsiders.

At Bawden Tree Care we adopt an approach to the use of terminology that is consistent with that used in 'BS3998:2010'.  This gives customers an independent and authoritative point of reference to which they can refer in order to gain a clear understanding of the work that will be completed on their trees.

Listed below are some of the more common operations carried our on trees, by clicking on each description, a new page will be opened that contains a full description of the work activity and in some cases pictorial examples.  Most of the information has been taken from 'BS3998:2010' supplemented with other relevant information.  If you have received a quotation from Bawden Tree Care we are sure reading through the relevant pages below will provide a clear understanding of exactly the nature of the work we intend to complete and to what standard.
